Q1: How many eggs can be steamed at a time?
A1: Approximately 6 on a single layer.
Q2: How long does it take to steam them?
A2: Approximately 8–15 minutes. The time depends on the amount of water and the desired level of doneness: for soft-boiled eggs, use less water and a shorter time; for hard-boiled eggs, use more water and a longer time. Reference markings are provided in the instruction manual.
Q3: Is the steamer easy to clean?
A3: The steaming bowls and rack are removable and can simply be rinsed under running water; wipe the heating plate with a damp cloth to prevent limescale build-up. Use white vinegar regularly to remove limescale.
Q4: Can other foods be steamed in it?
A4: Yes. You can steam sweetcorn, sweet potatoes, steamed buns, dumplings, vegetables, egg custard and hot milk (which must be poured into the steaming bowl), amongst other things.
Q5: Will the eggs continue to cook after the automatic power-off?
A5: The residual heat will cause the eggs to continue cooking after the power is cut off. You can place the eggs in cold water beforehand to cool them down and prevent the residual heat from continuing to cook them.
Q6: Will the eggs burst?
A6: As the steaming temperature is gentle, the eggs generally will not burst. We recommend placing them with the wider end facing upwards, or securing them using the egg holders provided with the steamer.
Q7: How do I remove limescale?
A7: Pour a mixture of white vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio into the heating tray, heat and steam for 5 minutes, then switch off the power. Once cooled, simply wipe clean.
